It's testing season! While I AM definitely thankful I am currently in 2nd grade (which is not a "testing" grade in my state) data is still a big part of my life as a teacher.
I recently viewed this video from Ted Ed about misleading statistic for my library course work. It served as a good reminder that data can't always be taken at face value.
My two take-aways.... Don't let the data bog you down. One snapshot on one day doesn't explain a whole child or the whole of your teaching. And, we need to be careful consumers of data (in education and in life.) There is SO MUCH data available to us these days. We have to understand how to use it to inform what we are teaching, but we also need to consider how we are teaching our students how to interpret data so they can interact with it meaningfully as well.
